Orange Board of Selectmen To Hold Hearing On Peddling Ordinance

Orange selectmen will hold a hearing on peddling rules and consider police, land and traffic enforcement items July 8.

ORANGE, CT — The Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing July 8 on proposed changes to the town's peddling and solicitation ordinance before considering whether to adopt the amendments during its regular meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the lower-level meeting room at Orange Town Hall. Following the opening portion of the regular meeting, selectmen are expected to recess to conduct a public hearing on proposed amendments to Chapter 302 of the Town Code governing peddling and solicitation. After the hearing closes, the board will reconvene its regular meeting and consider a vote on the proposed ordinance changes.

The agenda also includes public participation, announcements and consideration of the minutes from the board's June 10 public hearing and regular meeting.

Selectmen are scheduled to receive a presentation from Altumint Inc. The company provides automated traffic enforcement technology.

The board will also consider accepting the proposed donation of two parcels of land located at 990 Orange Center Road and Diana Street, review a request to approve $1,481.44 in tax refunds, and consider approving an amendment to an agreement between Flock Group Inc. and the Orange Police Department.

An executive session is also planned to discuss a proposed memorandum of understanding between the town and the Orange Police Union UPSEU/COPS regarding amendments to the agreement governing K-9 assignments, a proposed settlement in Orange v. CLSE Holdings 3, and responses to the town's request for proposals for an automated traffic enforcement safety device system.

After returning to open session, selectmen may vote on the proposed police union memorandum of understanding, the litigation settlement and the recommendation for the automated traffic enforcement safety device system.
