ORANGE, CT — The Board of Selectmen is scheduled to consider whether to pause or terminate the town's agreement with Flock, approve a newly adopted conservation and traffic mitigation district and act on weekly food waste collection when it meets Wednesday, Aug. 12.
The regular meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the lower-level meeting room at Town Hall. The agenda includes a public participation period, with speakers limited to two minutes each, followed by announcements and consideration of minutes from the board's July 8 public hearing and regular meeting.
Among the items under new business is a request from First Selectman James Zeoli to consider pausing or terminating the town's agreement with Flock Safety. The agenda does not provide additional details about the agreement or the reason the issue is being considered.
Selectmen are also scheduled to consider approving a conservation and traffic mitigation district adopted by the Orange Plan & Zoning Commission on July 7. The board will consider authorizing Zeoli to submit a property description of the district to the secretary of the state Office of Policy and Management as required under Public Act 25-1.
Another agenda item calls for the board to consider weekly food waste collection from the Orange Transfer Station by Enviro Express Inc. The agenda does not specify the proposed cost or other terms of the service.
Two neighborhood block party requests are also scheduled for consideration. Sylvester Salcedo of 851 Shag Bark Drive is seeking permission for an Aug. 29 block party in the Shag Bark Drive and Indian Hill Road neighborhood. Mary Shaw and Sean Hartshorn are requesting approval for a Sept. 13 block party in the Muirfield Road neighborhood.
The board is also scheduled to consider approving its annual report and amending Section 302-20 of the town code to correct an inconsistency in language governing license expiration dates.
Selectmen will also consider tax refunds totaling $1,085.47.
