August 26,2026 in Hamden, CT Helen Joyce Enright of Orange, CT passed away peacefully. Born Helen Joyce Nowell on July 18, 1927 in Massachusetts. Helen met her husband John in her home state. They had three children, David, Dana & Brian whom they raised in Melrose, Massachusetts until the mid-1960s.
The family then settled in Orange, CT. Helen had a long career at Yale University. Helen was deeply involved in the New New Haveners Club where she served as President and took part in many of the club's activities. She particularly enjoyed bridge and the gourmet club. Through the organization she formed many lasting friendships.
Helen's greatest happiness came from spending time and traveling with her family and friends. Leaving behind treasured memories of trips to Lake Winnipesaukee, Cape Cod and cross-country road trips to California. Later in life she & John also enjoyed many Mexican & Hawaiian Vacations.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, John Albert Enright, her parents Franklin Nowell & Louise Nowell Streblow, her sister Barbara Mac Dougall and her daughter in law Barbara Cornell.
She leaves behind her children David Enright, Dana Enright (Sharon) & Brian Enright (Joyce); her cherished niece Stephanie MacDougall Thoman (Doug); her grandchildren Jordana Blau Byrd, Christopher Enright, Andrew Enright, Julia Enright, Sam Enright; great nieces Lindsay Turner, Marissa Thoman and her great grandchildren Myles Slutzky, Roux Slutzky, Kingston Byrd, and Soleil Byrd.
She is also survived by nephews Craig Mac Dougal, Wayne MacDougal, James Enright, niece Elizabeth Hanning, extended family and dear friends.
Helen will be deeply missed but remembered by all who had the opportunity to know her.
A Graveside Service will be celebrated on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 11am at Orange Center Cemetery, Orange Center Rd., Orange (MEET DIRECTLY AT THE CEMETERY).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
