Charles R. "Charlie" Veeley, 83

Charles R. "Charlie" Veeley, 83, Of Orange, husband of Margaret "Peg" McGowan, passed away, August 18, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 17, 1928 to James and Estella Rubadue Veeley. He served in the United States Navy as a Radarman during World War Two. He moved to Connecticut and worked as Controller for Robertshaw Controls in Milford until his retirement.

He was an active communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in West Haven; was a Past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus; enjoyed bowling, and was an avid Buckeye fan.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Robert C. Veeley and his wife Melissa of Middlefield, James J. Veeley and his wife Lisa of Milford, and Karen Joanne Miller and her husband Curt of Wallingford; his brother George Veeley of Florida; his grandchildren, Brian Miller, Patrick Miller, Meghan Veeley, Sean Miller, Kevin Veeley, Nicole Veeley, and David Veeley; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, JoAnn Houston Veeley; his daughter Nancy; his brothers and sisters, Arthur, James, Anna Louise, Helen, Mildred, Sr. Maureen, RSM, and Sr. Eileen, RSM.

The funeral will be from Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven, Tuesday at 10:15 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Milford.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 pm.
