Warning to pet lovers

The medication Mometamax which is prescribed for ear infections has been known to cause temporary or permanent hearing loss and deafness in dogs. After only one treatment at the vet's office my collie is totally deaf. I was not even told that this was a possibility. Knowing this I would never have opted to use it.  After doing my own research online I was shocked to find hundreds of stories from people having pets who have gone deaf from this drug. My dog doesn't respond to her name, opening the biscuit cabinet or anything and clapping my hands is about the only thing that sometimes gets her attention. According to other people's experiences, some dogs hearing returns but others do not. My dog had perfect hearing up until yesterday and I'm so sad about this. Trying to cure her ear infection has now turned into a life-altering problem for my poor dog. I'm hoping and praying that she will be one of the lucky dogs and get her hearing back. Wanted to warn everyone about this medication to hopefully prevent other dogs from suffering.
