William J. McDermott

William J. McDermott, 88, of Hamden.

Husband of the late Irene Ann (Gaudenzi) McDermott. Loving father of Douglas McDermott (Karen) of Orange, Thomas McDermott (Janice) of Branford, and Nancy Yankee (Colin) of Hamden, brother of James L. and John P. McDermott. Also survived by his 8 cherished grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

William was born in Union City, CT. September 15, 1924 son of the late James W. and Catherine (McCarthy) McDermott.

Mr. McDermott served during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Yale University as assistant director of Dining Halls, then at The Jewish Home in Trumbull as Director of Purchasing.

William was a life member of the Knights of Columbus.

Funeral from Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden Tuesday at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck.
