Burglar Caught, Charged By Orange Police

The incident occurred at about 3 a.m. on Nov. 21.

ORANGE, CT — A 55-year-old New Haven man was arrested on burglary and related charges by Orange police early Thursday after he was spotted running from the Orange Farmer's Market on Bull Hill Lane, according to authorities.

Michael Barnett was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, interfering with an officer, sixth-degree larceny and possession of burglary tools in connection with the 3 a.m. incident.

Officers had been alerted by the store's owner that the security system had shown an unknown man inside the facility.

"Upon arrival, officers encountered the suspect running from the business," officials wrote on Facebook. "After a short foot pursuit, the uncooperative suspect was apprehended by officers in a parking lot across the street."

Barnett was held in lieu of bail of $75,000 and was arraigned in Derby Superior Court on Nov. 22.
