Child Custody Dispute Leads to Arrest at Orange Church: Police

The accused pushed the victim to the ground and the small child was present during the incident, police said.

ORANGE, CT — A New Haven man is accused of being involved in a child custody dispute that occurred at a church in Orange, police said. Officers late last month responded to a private function at St. Barbara's Church, 480 Racebrook Road in Orange for a dispute, police said.

Officers learned that Fredy Moreno, 27, of New Haven had gotten into an argument with another person at the event, and the argument was over custody of a small child who was present during the incident, police said.

Moreno was holding the child and would not give the child back to the other person, police said. When the other person tried to contact police for help, Moreno grabbed the phone, threw it to the floor, breaking it, and pushed the other person to the ground, police said.
