In December we’ll be talking and praying about Advent, the season of waiting, waiting for the yearly remembrance of the coming of Jesus in the flesh. Our service project will be making Christmas and Holiday cards for the patrons of Beth-El homeless shelter and soup kitchen in Milford, and for the residents of Spooner House in Shelton. Please bring old Christmas cards with the signature pages cut off. We’ll have colorful pens, stickers, etc., for you to decorate and personalize these re-purposed greetings. Card fronts can be dropped off at the church up until Tuesday the 5th.

In January we’ll focus on the Feast of the Epiphany and the coming of the magi with gifts for the infant Jesus. What would you bring if you were a magi in today’s America? Our service project in January will be jars of peanut butter for the Orange Food Shelf and the Christ Church Ansonia Food Shelf. Watch for grocery store, Target, and Walmart specials between now and January and stock up!

After "Thoughts and Prayers": Actions for Peace, What comes after "thoughts and prayers" are offered?: Please join St Andrew's Episcopal Church and the Church of the Good Shepherd on Friday nights in Advent for a prayer service that will serve as a springboard into action. As we prepare for Christ's coming, and seek to stem the flow of violence in our world, let us draw near to the God who calls us to this mission. We can answer the call to peacemaking when we have the tools to transform our thoughts and prayers into actions. This unique prayer service combines the contemplative space needed to confront evil with practical steps that we can take to make the world a better place. Letter writing campaigns, voter education, and social media strategies are among the tools we can use individually to collectively build the society we want to live in.

The service will be held at St Andrews Episcopal Church, 283 Bridgeport Ave in Milford on December 8 and 22, and at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 680 Racebrook Rd in Orange on December 15, all services start at 7 pm. All are welcome to attend this contemplative service and then take action!

The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd is located on 680 Racebrook Road, Orange, Connecticut. Sunday service times include Rite II Holy Eucharist without music at 8 a.m. and Rite II Holy Eucharist with music at 10 a.m. Children’s Christian Faith For more information about The Church of the Good Shepherd’s many other programs please call the Parish Office at (203) 795-6577, email us at thegoodspheherd@optonline.net, visit our website at www.thegoodshepherdorangect.org, and of course, check our Facebook page www.facebook.com/cgsorangect for frequent postings.
