College Swimmer from Orange Wins Award
Mollee Lasto is enjoying an outstanding freshman season in the pool for the ECSU Warriors.

Freshman Mollee Lasto of Orange, a standout swimmer at Eastern Connecticut State University, was named Little East Conference Rookie Swimmer-of-the-Week for the second time this year as part of the LEC weekly reports program, released Monday.
Lasto won three events – swimming personal-best times in two of them - as Eastern defeated Plymouth State and host Western New England in a tri-match Saturday afternoon. Lasto won the 50y (30.18) and 200 (2:19.84) backstroke in personal-best times and also captured the 200 individual medley (2:24.81) as three freshmen combined to win six individual events. Saturday, she won the 50 backstroke by nearly two seconds, 200 backstroke by nearly eight seconds, and 200 IM by over seven seconds.
Lasto was previously tabbed Rookie-of-the-Week in the second report of the year through Nov. 1 after winning the University of Saint Joseph (CT) Blue Jay Pentathlon.

Through six meets, Lasto has won the 50 backstroke twice and the 100 and 200 backstroke, 100 and 200 individual medley, and 200 freestyle once each, and has been second in the 100 freestyle (among 45 competitors) and 100 butterfly once (among 35 competitors). She won the 100 backstroke in a field of 44 participants and the 100 individual medley in a field of 35 at the USJ Pentathlon.
Lasto has posted the fastest times on the team in the 50, 100 and 200 backstroke, 100 and 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly.

The Eastern swim team competes in the Connecticut Cup Dec. 5 at Wesleyan University at 10 a.m.
