DUI Driver Struck Street Sign: Orange Police

Police say the accused was having trouble driving prior to the accident.

ORANGE, CT — A Naugatuck man is accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol when his vehicle struck a street sign in Orange, police said.

On Oct. 20 officers saw Evan D. Kravec, 24, of Naugatuck having difficulties driving his motor vehicle on Derby Milford Road, police said. Kravec then proceeded to smash into a street sign, police said.

A motor vehicle stop was performed and there was a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the motor vehicle, police said. Kravec was asked to perform Standardized Sobriety Field Tests to which he complied, police said. Subsequently, he was taken into custody and charged with DUI, failure to drive right, possession of drug paraphernlia, and possession of less than half ounce of marijuana.
