DUI Man Hits Mailboxes, Fire Hydrant: Orange Police

Police said they responded to a local business after the accident was reported.

ORANGE, CT — A Trumbull man is accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol at the time of an accident which included him striking mailboxes and a fire hydrant, Orange police said. On Dec. 30, police responded to 151 Boston Post Road, Cumberland Farms, for an accident that had just occurred, police said.

Police said Debasish Banerjee, 51, of Trumbull, struck two mailboxes and a fire hydrant in front of the store. He was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests and was taken into custody and charged with DUI, police said.

He was released after posting a $100 bond.
