Massaro Community Farm will welcome its third farming season by inviting the public to Celebrate Spring on Saturday, May 19. This event will feature several programming highlights, including the inauguration of a 5kW solar array in Woodbridge, made possible in cooperation with the Woodbridge Clean Energy Initiative Task Force. A talk on the use of photovoltaics and sustainability will be led by task force chair and farm board member, Jon Gorham.
The day’s events, which will run from 10am until 3 pm (rain date is Sunday, May 20) will include the sale of herbs, vegetables, flowers and hanging baskets, and will provide a wide array of programming, and a variety of local exhibitors in the area of natural health.
A list of scheduled events includes the following: a discussion by Claire Criscuolo, chef and owner of Claire’s Corner Copia in New Haven, who will also be signing copies of her new cookbook, Welcome to Claire’s; shrub & tree pruning by Naugatuck Valley Horticulture Program Coordinator, Chris Tuccio; a magnified view of plants and insects presented by educator, Elisa Black; and a guide to using your binoculars to spot certain species with expert birder, Emily Cosenza.
