Fire Extinguished At Orange Shopping Plaza: UPDATE

UPDATE: All traffic lanes on Route 1 in the area of 501 Boston Post Road are now open in all lanes/directions, police said. Fire crews have finished their work and are clearing the scene.

ORANGE, CT — A shopping mall located at Liberty Plaza is currently closed due to an "active fire situation," according to the Orange Police Department. The Orange Fire Department is currently on the scene.

"As of 11.00 am, Orange Fire Dept is handling an active fire situation at Liberty Plaza, 501 Boston Post Road.
The plaza is currently closed, along with the right-most travel lane of the Boston Post Road (westbound side) for emergency vehicle staging until the incident is contained," the Police Department said.

Fox 61 reports that there was an evacuation.
