FREE Financial Workshops This October From Connex Credit Union

No-obligation seminars are open to members and non-members and will cover IRAs, homebuying, and online security.

Connex Credit Union, one of Connecticut’s largest credit unions, hosts a series of free, no-obligation financial education workshops for both members and non-members throughout the year as part of its ConnexCares initiative. These highly-regarded workshops have assisted many attendees in taking the first steps toward controlling their fiscal situation and progressing on their quest for financial independence. Taught by industry professionals and brimming with valuable information, these workshops are designed to help consumers learn about important financial topics and discover how to set and achieve financial goals.

Steering Toward Retirement with Individual Retirement Accounts” will be presented by Connex Investment and Retirement Services Representative William DeBille who has nearly three decades of financial planning experience. It will cover the different types of Individual Retirement Accounts and which one is best suited for you. This discussion will be particularly beneficial to those who have not yet contributed to their financial futures. This meeting will take place Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

First Time Homebuyer” was created to help make sense of the generally intimidating process of purchasing a home. This seminar will cover the homebuying process from start to finish and guests will leave with a newfound understanding of what to expect when acquiring their first home. This workshop will take place Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The October workshop series will conclude with “Online Security” presented by Connex Information Technology Network Engineer Mohammad Usman. Attendees will learn how to protect personal data online, prevent viruses, avoid phishing scams and more. This seminar will take place Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

All of these workshops take place at Connex Credit Union’s North Haven Branch located at 412 Washington Avenue. Additionally, for those unable to attend in person, online versions of the seminars will be available via WebEx.

Anyone interested in attending a workshop must call 1-800-CR-UNION (1-800-278-6466) or visit connexcu.org to register. During registration you will choose if you are attending in person or online. The workshops are open to members and non-members of the credit union, but act fast, seats are limited.
