Gaynor Challenges Slossberg to Debate

An Open Letter to Senator Gayle Slossberg

Republican State Senate candidate Matt Gaynor has challenged incumbent Gayle Slossberg to a debate on the issues facing the State of Connecticut.

In a letter to the Senator, Mr. Gaynor urges her to join him “in at least three debates…in an unfiltered setting, where real taxpayers have a chance to ask real questions.”

Gaynor and Slossberg were invited to a candidate forum sponsored by the Plymouth Men’s Club of Milford. The event is open to the public and will be held on September 23 at 8pm at the First United Church of Christ in Milford.

Slossberg declined to attend the annual forum, stating the event conflicted with her schedule. Gaynor has accepted the invitation, stating, “We owe it to the people of the district to have an open and fair debate. The voters deserve to get the opportunity to ask us questions.”

Dear Senator Slossberg,

I am writing to let you know that I have accepted an invitation to debate you before the membership of the Plymouth Men’s Club in Milford. I understand that you have not made yourself available for this event.

The citizens of the 14th District should have several opportunities to learn more about us and where we stand on the important issues facing our state.

This should occur before they cast their vote on November 4.

I urge you to join me in at least three debates. I am not particular about the formats, the venues or who moderates them.

There are many critical issues facing Connecticut on which we disagree. You and I have an obligation to present our credentials and our ideas to the voters. This should be done in an unfiltered setting, where real taxpayers have a chance to ask us real questions.

I await your reply to my invitation to debate.

Very truly yours,

Matt Gaynor
Candidate for State Senator
