GoFundMe Page Raises Thousands For Orange Volunteer Firefighters
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the fire department had to cancel its annual fundraising carnival.
ORANGE, CT — A GoFundMe page has been established to help the Orange Volunteer Fire Association raise money after the group was forced to cancel its 2020 carnival due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
"The cancelling of the Orange Firefighter's Carnival due to the Covid-19 crisis will have a severe effect on the funding of the OVFA," the page's organizers wrote. "Proceeds from the carnival help fund operations and the purchase of vital equipment needed to safeguard our town.
"Orange is a close-knit community where we help each other. Now it’s time for us all to step up and support our volunteer firefighters.

This year's carnival would have marked the fire company's 95th anniversary. Though the carnival has been canceled, the department will still host a raffle to help raise funds.
