How Orange Republicans, Democrats Voted In Primary

ORANGE, CT — Donald Trump-endorsed U.S. Senate candidate Leora Levy bested moderate Themis Klarides in a somewhat unexpected Republican primary result. Levy will face incumbent Sen. Richard Blumenthal in November.

Orange Republicans bucked the statewide trend in that race with a slightly stronger support for Klarides.

Republican primary

Statewide turnout for the Republican primary was about 20 percent, according to the Secretary of the State. About 23 percent of eligible Orange Republicans cast a ballot.
Here is how Orange Republicans voted, according to the preliminary results:
U.S. Senate

• Themis Klarides: 385 votes, 63.74%
• Leora R. Levy: 192 votes, 31.79%
• Peter Lumaj: 27 votes, 4.47%

Secretary of the State

• Dominic Rapini:387 votes, 67.78%
• Terrie E. Wood: 184 votes, 32.22%

Democratic primary

Turnout statewide for the Democratic primary was 14.4 percent, according to the Secretary of the State. Orange's turnout was about 13 percent.
