Jamie Hulley Arts Foundation Sponsors Race Brook School Program

Below this excerpt from the foundation's newsletter is information about an upcoming fundraiser at Fairfield University.

Jamie Hulley Arts Foundation has published some of their educational program highlights in their Summer 2019 Newsletter.

In 2019, the foundation sponsored 33 educational programs in the greater New Haven, Bridgeport and Valley regions. Their goal is to provide opportunities to learn in new and creative ways and to "level the academic playing field" through arts-based programming so that all students can experience the joy of a sense of accomplishment.

Orange, CT - For Bernadette Bober's 6th graders at Race Brook School in Orange CT, the art of songwriting provided a new way of mastering the skill of sharing your ideas and knowledge with others--a process easily applied to the more traditional tasks of writing stories or poems. In a series of workshops with singer-songwriter Laura Clapp, students practiced brainstorming ideas related to a theme, working collaboratively transforming those ideas into a story, and having fun fitting words to melody.
