Link Crew Part 1: Training
This is the first part of a series about the Link Crew and their role in a freshman's transition from Middle School to High School
The halls of Amity High School are empty except for a large group of students dedicated to making the transition into High School a comfortable experience for incoming freshmen.
85 students from various upper classes enthusiastically agreed to become part of the 2011-12 Link Crew. The process began before the end of the 2010-11 school year and this week they underwent two days of training in preparation for the freshman orientation on Friday.
Even though they have gone to school together for a number of years, many of the Link Crew leaders did not know the other members of the team. The faces may have been familiar from passing in a hallway or on the stairwell, but, the names were not familiar.

The teachers and advisors who are guiding them through the training observed the students after they met and chose which ones they would pair up to lead each group of 10 freshmen this year.
Unlike some teen activities, clubs or groups, the Link Crew Leaders all participated in the conversations and shared their ideas throughout the training sessions.
