Major Drug Bust Announced By Orange Police, 2 Arrests Made

A six week investigation into the sale of drugs led to multiple arrests and the seizure of drugs, cash and a car, police said.

ORANGE, CT — A six week investigation into drug sales in Orange led to the arrest of two local residents and the seizure of narcotics, cash and a car, police said Friday. On Feb. 21, officers served a search warrant at a private residence on Manley Heights Road.

The search warrant was a result of a six-week long investigation into drug sales at that location, police said. Police officers conducted controlled purchases from the residence on multiple occasions, resulting in numerous arrest warrants for Justin Mbelu, 19, of Manley Heights, police said.

During the execution of the search warrants, officers also saw Jeffrey Mbelu, 22, of Manley Heights, who was in possession of controlled substances and subsequently taken into custody and charged with three felonies, police said in a news release.

Officers served Justin Mbelu with all outstanding warrants, which resulted in thirteen felony charges, police said.

As a result of the search of the residence, officers seized 102 grams of marijuana, Oxycodone pills, 41 grams of THC wax folds, 69 cartridges of THC oil, packaging and weighing materials, $573 in cash, eight cell phones, and a 2009 Audi A4, police said.

Both men were charged with operating a drug factory, possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, and possession of controlled substances within 1,500 feet of school/day care. Justin Mbelu is also charged with five counts of sale of controlled substances.
