Man Charged After Road Rage Incident with 2 CT DCF Employees: Orange Police

The Milford man is accused of shouting that he hoped the DCF employees were shot and he allegedly spat on their vehicle.

ORANGE, CT — An apparent road rage incident in Orange left a Milford man so upset that he shouted that he hoped two state Department of Children and Family employees were shot, police said.

The man also allegedly spat on the state employees car while they were driving, police said.

Orange police said Joseph Hopkins, 43, of Summit Avenue in Milford, turned himself in on an arrest warrant earlier this month.

The warrant stemmed from an incident on July 13, when Hopkins caused a ‘road rage’ incident on Route One, police said.

On that date, two DCF employees were driving on Route One when the arrestee attempted to merge in front of them, but could not, police said.

This caused Hopkins to become angry and shout at the DCF employees that he hoped they were shot, police said. He then spat at the car they were driving, police added.

Investigation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant and Hopkins is charged with second-degree breach of peace.

He was released on a promise to appear in Superior Court, Derby.
