Man Charged for Misleading Orange Police About a Fatal Accident: Police
Police announced charges have been filed in the case.

ORANGE, CT — Police arrested a 19-year-old West Haven man who was a passenger in a vehicle that crashed and resulted in the death of the driver in Orange this summer, police said.
Victor Diaz, 19, of West Haven, surrendered himself at police headquarters after learning of a warrant for his arrest. The warrant stemmed from the investigation into a motor vehicle accident that occurred in July of 2016, police said.
During this incident, the arrestee was a passenger in a vehicle that crashed, police said. The crash caused the death of the driver of the vehicle, police said. The driver was identified as Abraham Evans, 22, of West Haven, police said back in July.

Diaz was interviewed as part of the investigation, and purposely misdirected officers as to how the accident occurred, police said. Investigation led to the issuance of an arrest warrant and Diaz was charged with interfering with a police investigation and second-degree making a false statement.
He was released on a promise to appear in Superior Court on Dec. 22.
