Man Drove Drunk with 3 Young Children Inside Car in Orange: Police

The man had been involved in an accident earlier in the day too, police said.

ORANGE, CT — A man accused of driving while intoxicated with three young children inside the vehicle posed for a smiling mugshot, according to police.

Police say officers responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 121 and 34 on Dec. 18.

Officers learned that one of the involved drivers had just fled the scene of an earlier accident in Derby when this accident occurred in Orange, police said.

Officers had that driver, Antonio Bazar, 33, of West Haven, perform standardized roadside sobriety tests. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with DUI, following too close, and three counts of risk of injury to a minor.

He also had three young children in the car during this incident, which led to the additional charges, police said. He was initially held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
