Man Shoplifts More Than $1,000 Worth Of Goods: Orange PD

He was taken into custody by the Department of Corrections who held an active arrest warrant, police say.

ORANGE, CT — A Greenwich man, Brandon M. McLaughlin, 25, Cos Cob, is accused of shoplifting more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from Burlington Coat Factory at 80 Boston Post Road, Orange Police say.

On Jan. 2, officers responded to 80 Boston Post Road in regards to a larceny in progress. Officers’ stopped and searched McLauglin, police said. It was discovered that he took $1,078.75 in merchandise without paying for it, police said.

Officers also found that he was in possession of drug paraphernalia and devices used for shoplifting, police said. Subsequently, he was taken into custody and charged with fifth-degree larceny, possession of a shoplifting device, possession of drug paraphernalia, and interfering with an officer.

He was then taken into custody by the Department of Corrections. The DOC Parole unit held an active arrest warrant for McLaughlin, police said.
