Man Tries To Steal Several Jackets By Wearing Them: Orange PD

The Loss Prevention Associate told police that they were currently watching a repeat shoplifter, police said.

ORANGE, CT — A West Haven man is accused of trying to steal several jackets from a store by wearing the jackets on top of one another, police said.

On Feb. 19, officers monitoring the Burlington Coat Factory parking lot contacted the Loss Prevention Associate of the store to inquire on any current issues, police said.

The Loss Prevention Associate stated that they were currently watching a repeat shoplifter, Robert L. Banks, 49, of West Haven, enter the fitting room with several jackets and exit the empty fitting room with the jackets stacked on his person, police said.

Subsequently, he was stopped, taken into custody and charged with sixth-degree larceny and possession of a shoplifting device.
