Carol C. DeBiase, 87, formerly of West Haven, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18th, 2026 in her residence at HarborChase of Branford after a long illness. She was born on April 5th, 1939 to the late Bruno and Adeline Romano Coassin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward DeBiase. Carol is survived by her beloved children Cynthia (Ron) D’Apice of Wolcott, CT, and David (Marlo) DeBiase of Branford, CT; grandchildren James Fracasse Jr. of Beacon Falls, CT, Michaela Crandall and Collin Crandall of Cromwell, CT, and Jennifer Crandall of Bozeman, MT; her uncle John Coassin of Hamden; as well as many dear cousins and friends. Carol was a long-time parishioner of St. Louis Church and was very active in the 1970’s serving as Home and School President and working the Annual Carnival for many years. She was also a den mother for the cub scouts at St Louis. In her later years she was active with the Ladies Guild. Carol was born in New Haven and graduated from St Mary’s High School in 1957. She started her career at United Illuminating and wrote a company newsletter column called “U and I” before marriage, then later over several decades Carol held positions in Human Resources at area companies including Circuit Wise and Rockbestos, with her last position at the time of her retirement being a Benefits Supervisor for the Milford Board of Education. Carol enjoyed travel after she retired and went to destinations all over the world including England, Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic; she particularly loved Ireland where she visited 5 times. Carol loved attending to her garden and yard. She was an avid Leemax Christmas Village collector with 40 buildings that she loved to set up and display every Christmas Season. Carol also loved to write children’s short stories during her retirement. Carol will be remembered as a beautiful, kind, independent, strong, and friendly woman. She will be greatly missed by everyone who loved and knew her. The family would like to thank the HarborChase of Branford nurses and aides for the wonderful care they gave Carol for the past two and a half years.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven Thursday morning at 9:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. John the XXIII Parish at St. Louis Church in West Haven at 10:00. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call THURSDAY MORNING from 8:00-9:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn. at alz.org.
