ORANGE, CT — Election day in Orange is drawing closer, and to help residents make an informed decision on Nov. 5, Orange Patch asked candidates for various elected offices to answer questions about their campaigns and the issues in town.

John Carangelo, 51, is a Republican seeking re-election to the Board of Selectmen, a position he has held since 2010. He is an attorney who, like his father, also served as a Judge of Probate; that tenure was from 1998 to 2010.

He is married to Kathrine Carangelo, and they have two boys, Michael and Joey Carangelo, who attend Amity High School.

The single most pressing issue facing Orange is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

The Town is faced with potential tax increases and as a member of the Board of Selectmen I will continue my efforts to keep taxes under control for our residents, and continue to improve our town's infrastructure and schools.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Our party has been fiscally conservative handling the affairs of the town unlike our opposition when they were in office.If given the chance I would like to continue this responsible spending.

In my opinion I am experienced and efficient and would I would love the opportunity to continue to represent Orange.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

I have been fortunate to have been elected as your Judge of Probate and currently as a member of the Board of Selectmen for over eighteen years and I believe that the residents know that I love this town and will support the town to the best of my ability.

The best advice ever shared with me was ...

My mother and father always encouraged me,"to be smart, be kind, and always do your best."

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I have enjoyed being on the Board of Selectmen representing the interests of our residents and hope I can have your continued support on election day.
