Orange Man Accused of Setting Fire to His Own Home
Police said there was more than $100,000 in property damage.

Orange police say Thomas McMahon, 65, of Orange is accused of setting his own house on fire causing more than $100,000 in property damage.
Police say McMahon turned himself in on an arrest warrant at the Orange Police Department on Saturday. McMahon was charged with first-degree arson arson and providing a false written statement.
It is alleged that on October 27, McMahon intentionally set fire to his residence, while it was occupied, at 496 Golf Road in Orange, police said. No one was injured.

The Orange Volunteer Fire Department, Milford Fire Department, Orange Fire Marshals, Orange Police, and Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Unit arrived at the scene of the fire and brought it under control, police said.
The fire appeared to have been set from inside the residence, causing an estimated $100,000 in damage. McMahon was released after posting a $50,000 bond.

He is due in Derby Superior Court on Jan. 5. Orange Police Detective Mike Morrin investigated this incident and secured the warrant for McMahon’s arrest.
