Orange Man to be Evaluated in Murder of Mother

The man's lawyer said his client did not understand the charges against him.

Timothy D. Granata, 22, will face a competency evaluation for the fatal attack on his mother at their Orange home in July, the New Haven Register reports.

According to the paper, Granata’s lawyer, Hugh F. Keefe, told Superior Court Judge on Thursday that Granata was unable to understand the proceedings against him.

Granata will be evaluated at Garner Correctional Institute in Newtown to see whether he understands the charges against him, the Register reports. Granata is currently confined to the center, which offers treatment for men with mental health issues.
