Orange Municipal Election 2017 Results: Winners Revealed

The town voted on several local positions on Nov. 7. Here are the full vote totals for all races.

ORANGE, CT – Republican James Zeoli easily won re-election Tuesday night to another term as first selectman. Zeoli got 60 percent of the vote, getting 2,990 votes, beating Democratic challenger Margaret Novicki’s 1,919. Petitioning candidate Alex DeAngelo got 64 votes.

Democrat Pat O’Sullivan was unopposed in the race for Town Clerk; he won with 3,480 votes.

In the race for Tax Collector, Republican Sandra Pierson with 3,003 votes beat Democrat Kristin Zanjani’s 1,794 total.

In the race for Board of Education, the top vote getter was Republican Kimberley Browe with 2,698 votes, followed by fellow Republican Jeffrey Cap’s 2,560 and Republican Christian Young’s 2,511. Democrat Charles Flynn polled 2,041 votes, fellow Democrat Mary Welander polled 2,029 and Democrat Frank Renaldi got 1,959.

For the Amity Regional school board, Republican Steve DeMaio polled 2,769 and fellow Republican Thomas Hurley got 2,665; Democrat Carla Eichler got 2,510, Democrat Raymond Tuccio got 2,130 and fellow Democrat Mark Rawden got 1,800. In a race to fill a vacancy on that board, Republican Shannan Carlson with 2,571 votes beat Democrat John Gagel’s 1,858.

In the constable race, the top vote getter was Republican Jeffrey Vargo with 2,473, followed by fellow Republican Jody Damon’s 2,397 and Republican’s Michael Donadaeo’s 2,248. Democrat Randy Thomas got 2,262 votes, followed by Republican Glenn Papelo’s 2,208. After that came Democrats Santo Galatioto’s 2,138, Robert Shanley’s 2,129, and Marianne Miller’s 2,047.

The numbers for both the boards of Selectmen and Finance were not final as of Wednesday morning.

The New Haven Register reports that others who earned seats on the Board of Selectmen include: Republicans Judy Williams, John J. Carangelo, Ralph G. Okenquist and Democrats Paul Davis, Mitch Goldblatt and Jen Alfaro.
