Orange Police Share Important Storm Information

Information regarding parking bans, where to call in power outages and more is shared.

All of the information is shared and written by the Orange Police Department:

Winter weather is upon us. Most current forecasts are predicting 4 – 7 inches for this first storm of the season. Some reminders for residents:

- There is a parking ban for all streets from November 1 to April 1 during snow events. Your vehicle is subject to towing if it inhibits snow plowing. Please move vehicles off the public road prior to the arrival of snow.

- Do not leave snow piled in the roadway when clearing private driveways. This can damage passing vehicles.

- “Adopt a hydrant” – Please take the time to clear snow from fire hydrants near your home. A 3- 4 foot patch should be cleared on all sides of the hydrant to allow firefighters room to make hose connections.

- Adjust Driving habits – 4WD or “All Wheel” drive vehicles may perform better in adverse conditions but they do not help in stopping. Driving speeds should be reduced significantly during adverse conditions. Forecasters are calling for high winds and blowing snow at the height of the storm. Residents should consider staying home during the actual event.

- Report power outages directly to UI at 1-800-722-5584. Calling 911 will not get power restored.

This may be the first storm of the 2016 season, but it most certainly will not be our last. As always, the men and women of the Orange Police Department will be on patrol keeping Orange safe.
