Orange Police: Shoplifting at Target Turns Violent

Police say they arrested two people and one person struck a Target employee.

Orange police say officers responded to the Target store last week for a reported violent shoplifter. Officers learned that the two arrestees, Alicia Santiago, 23, of Ella Grasso Boulevard in New Haven and Taylor Allen, 31, of Coleman Street in New Haven had selected $307.45 worth of toys, clothing, baby items and household goods, and left the store without allegedly paying, police said.

When confronted by store security agents outside the store, Santiago allegedly struck a Target employee before both parties fled the scene, police said.

Officers located both parties a short distance away and took them into custody. Santiago also had a warrant from the New Haven Police Department which was served by Orange officers.
