Orange is Ready for the Blizzard, Declares First Selectman

The town is prepared as we can be for this white fest event.

The plows are on, the salt shed is full, the police, fire and cert members are ready !!! Thank you all. The Library and High Plains are closing from all programs by 5 tonight (Monday) and if this storm comes as predicted all services will be closed on Tuesday.

Two years ago when we were hit by a storm like this, Orange was prepared and roads with the exception of two were all open in two days. The two that were not open, one was because of a broken power pole and the other we had to wait for Milford.

The town has three new four wheel drive explorers for the police, Public Works has three additional loaders in the que as well as two of our own.

Please don’t call asking when your street will be done, all 110 miles will be done. I f you have an emergency call 911, if not an emergency call 203-891-2130, the police non-emergency number.

Do not park your car on the street, except in those few areas of town that it is allowed or they will be towed. This has happened before and will happen again....take a breath and we will be fine.

The shelter will open at High Plains in the event of large scale outages.....Don’t be out riding around just because, there will be enough visibility problems for the plow and machine operators without other distractions !!
