Orange Resident Drafted By Los Angeles Dodgers

An Orange resident, he also attended Brown University and Hamden Hall Country Day School.

Austin L. French III was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers on the last day of the 2016 Amateur Draft, as reported by Joseph Cole of The Orange Times.

The 821st pick in the 27th round, French made 12 appearances out of the bullpen at Brown University in 2013 as a freshman, according to The Orange Times. He had 13 strikeouts in 12.2 innings and allowed nine earned runs.

According to his bio page on the Brown University athletics website, he set a record at Hamden Hall Country Day School in 2011 for 18 strikeouts in a game, winning the championship title. He had a batting average of .417 and a 1.55 four-year ERA.

French also earned a Perfect Game Underclass Honorable Mention in 2011. He later received Hamden Hall’s Captain’s Award for Outstanding Leadership in 2012 after serving as team captain.
