Orange Students Eligible For Cable Advisory Council Media Scholarships

Two $2,500 scholarships are available for students in Orange and five other CAC Area 2 towns.

ORANGE, CT — The Cable Advisory Council of Area 2 will award two $2,500 scholarships to students pursuing careers in film, mass communications, television, journalism or e-media.

The scholarships will be given in memory of Howard Jacobson, a former longtime chairperson of the council, according to the release.

Students must be enrolled in high school, community college, college or university and have a home address in one of the six communities served by the council: Fairfield, Bridgeport, Stratford, Milford, Woodbridge or Orange.

Applicants must also be majoring in, taking classes in or pursuing independent studies in one or more of the qualifying media fields during the fall or spring terms of the 2026-27 academic year. Students must be in good standing with their academic institution, according to the release.

Applicants must submit an essay of fewer than 500 words describing their creative coursework, portfolio or project and how it relates to the scholarship. Supplemental links to media projects may also be submitted.

Winners will be selected based on academic performance, portfolio and personal statement, according to the release.

The application deadline is Dec. 1. Students may apply by emailing info@cacarea2.com.

The Cable Advisory Council of Area 2 serves Fairfield, Bridgeport, Stratford, Milford, Woodbridge and Orange and promotes community access television.
