PLAY BALL: Opening Day For Boys and Girls In Orange

Young athletes gathered at Old Tavern Park for Opening Day and then played ball at all the different fields in town.

Patch was there for the 7-and-8-year-old girls game between the Dragons and the Lucky Charms.

We're not sure if the Dragons ate the Lucky Charms for breakfast, but all the girls showed good sportsmanship and had a great time. The coaches were supportive and made sure that "Fun" was the main goal.

We also watched a few innings between the boys' Rockhounds and the Bulls teams, who are a bit older.

Each of these young men already had a "player's stance" and full knowledge of the game.

The score was pretty even halfway through the game but then, the Bulls kicked it into high gear, filling up the bases time after time and doing what we will call the Victory Shuffle as three runners made their way into the dugout after crossing the home plate.

From what we saw today, Orange Little League is destined to have an exciting season.
