Race Brook Students Collect Food For Less Fortunate

FISH benefits from school food drive in November.

Children in the town of Orange have proved over and over again how seriously they take their lessons about caring and sharing.

Last month, from Nov. 1 through Nov. 15, the Race Brook School Student Council ran a food drive to benefit FISH of Greater New Haven, Inc, a non-profit food pantry that serves New Haven residents in food crisis.

The message the student council sent out was "As you count your own blessings, please support our community food drive."

The entire student body, with the help of their parents, participated in donating a tremendous amount of non-perishabe items, including macaroni and cheese, canned vegetables, soup and pasta, coffee, tea, etc, and supermarket gift cards.

After two weeks, Norman Choiniere from FISH came to the school to collect the food, which the council members proudly presented on behalf of the school.
