Parking for the public is available at the Milford Senior Center on Jepson Drive. Overflow parking will be behind the courthouse, 14 W. River St. Shuttle buses will run between the parking lots and the funeral home. The Cody-White parking lot is reserved for the family and handicapped guests. The lot behind Berchem Moses, 75 Broad St., is designated for public safety chiefs with official cars and municipal officials. On-duty personnel can park their vehicles on the eastbound side of Broad Street opposite the funeral home.

Except for on-duty personnel, those attending the wake are asked to enter from the rear of the building. On-duty personnel can enter the front of the funeral home. They will be escorted to the front of the line so they can pay their respects and get back on duty.

Tomorrow, Smith’s life will be celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road in Orange. As is the tradition for fallen firefighters, Smith will be transported from the funeral home to the church on the back of an Orange fire engine, accompanied by an honor guard and other apparatus from the fire department and the fire marshal’s office. On arrival at the church, Smith will be met by an honor guard and firefighters and others who, along with his family, will pay tribute to him. The funeral will feature bagpipers from three pipe-and-drum groups. Radios will call out a last dispatch to honor Smith, a ceremonial fire bell will be rung and a flag and Smith’s helmet will be presented to his family. No graveside service is planned.

After the service, guests will be transported to the repast, where Tim’s life will be celebrated with tributes, stories and photos. Those planning to attend the repast can park at the country club. Shuttle buses will run from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. from the country club to the church. The buses will bring people from the church to the country club after the service.

Smith was called to the scene of a house fire Sunday afternoon to investigate the cause. After he completed the investigation, he was headed home when he was killed in a one-vehicle motor vehicle accident. The crash is still under investigation by the Woodbridge Police Dept. and the Connecticut State Police accident reconstruction team.

An Orange firefighter since 1984, Smith became a deputy fire marshal in 1986 and fire marshal in 1989.
