Woman Arrested In Orange Wanted In 2 States: Police

The call started as a shoplifting and quickly escalated into several charges, police said.

ORANGE, CT — A North Haven woman is accused of shoplifting and Orange police said they learned the accused also had two outstanding warrants in two different states.

On Oct. 30, officers responded to TJ Max, 538 Boston Post Road in regard to a shoplifting in progress, police said. Margaret A. McGilton, 45, had just left and witnesses provided details of her car, police said. Police found the vehicle and initially McGilton gave officers a false name, police said.

McGilton had $54.97 worth of stolen merchandise in her car, and police also discovered that she had two extraditable warrants for her arrest, including South Carolina and Georgia, police said.

She is charged with sixth-degree larceny, second-degree forgery, criminal impersonation, and interfering with a police officer. She was held on a $10,000 bond.
