OXFORD, CT — Oxford anglers got some good news this week.
Connecticut Fish and Wildlife said in a Wednesday stocking update that two Oxford-area waters were among the locations stocked so far this week. The April 22 post, shared on Earth Day, listed Eightmile Brook in the Southford Falls State Park area and Southford Falls Pond, both in the Oxford-Southbury area.
That gives local fishermen a fresh reason to head to one of the better-known trout spots in this part of the state. Southford Falls State Park has long been a draw for anglers, hikers and families, and the state identifies the area as one of its designated trout park locations.
The stocking update was part of a broader statewide report that included rivers, brooks and ponds across Connecticut. In Oxford, though, the focus was squarely on the Southford Falls area, where stocked waters regularly draw local anglers looking for a close-to-home spot to fish.
Connecticut Fish and Wildlife urged anglers to keep checking the state’s trout stocking map and weekly update report for the latest information.
