OXFORD, CT — Oxford Public Schools has named Jennifer Lewis its Paraeducator of the Year, district officials announced Monday.
Lewis began working for Oxford Public Schools in August 2024 as a high school paraeducator and continues to serve in that role at Oxford High School, according to the district.
During the selection process, Lewis was praised by colleagues for her classroom support, patience, communication and work with students.
“Jen is the best support a teacher could ask for,” one nomination said. “As a certified science teacher she knows how to differentiate and can add further modifications to class materials. She is reliable, organized, and a great communicator. Jen has endless patience, and she loves the kids.”
Another colleague described Lewis as “an awesome Para” who consistently advocates for students.
“As a result of her extensive classroom experience, she always knows the best way to accommodate her students,” the nomination said. “She is consistent in advocating for those who struggle to advocate for themselves.”
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ralph Marino Jr. said the district is fortunate to have many dedicated paraprofessionals, which made the selection process difficult.
“Jennifer exemplifies all the talents and support that creates the best learning environment for our students,” Marino said. “Heartfelt congratulations go out to Ms. Lewis!”
