Dump Truck Fire In Oxford

OXFORD, CT — A fire involving a dump truck brought firefighters and police to Oxford Road near Governors Hill Road Monday morning, officials said.

The Oxford Fire Department was dispatched at about 8:07 a.m. after the fire was reported, according to the Oxford Center Volunteer Fire Company.

Crews determined the fire originated in the truck's rear brake assembly, firefighters said. The fire was quickly extinguished and crews ensured the area was safe.

The roadway was cleared and reopened after the response, the department said.

Car 1, Car 2, Engine 41 and Tanker 43 responded alongside the Oxford Police Department.
