OXFORD, CT — A proposal to build a 40,000-square-foot industrial building on East Commerce Drive will return to the Planning and Zoning Commission on Tuesday.
The project is proposed for 6 East Commerce Drive. Property owner and applicant Christopher Taylor is seeking site-plan approval for the building, along with two special exceptions.
One would allow the building to reach 55 feet in height. The other covers the excavation and regrading of 14,170 cubic yards of material.
The town's meeting records identify the proposed building as industrial but do not specify its intended use or name a prospective tenant.
The commission opened the public hearing Aug. 18 before continuing it to Sept. 1. The hearing was continued again and is now listed on the commission's Tuesday meeting agenda.
The project is being considered as Oxford reviews its zoning regulations during a nine-month development moratorium. The temporary rules took effect Aug. 12, after the East Commerce Drive applications had already been submitted.
The moratorium applies to certain larger housing, commercial and mixed-use proposals while officials study traffic, sewer capacity, roads, flooding and other development concerns.
The commission's agenda does not indicate whether a vote on the East Commerce Drive project is expected Tuesday.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the main meeting room at Oxford Town Hall, 486 Oxford Road. Residents may speak during the public hearing or submit written comments to the commission.
