Armed Security Guards Approved For Oxford Schools: Report
Residents must approve the transfer of funds at an upcoming town meeting.

OXFORD, CT — The town is earmarking at least $70,000 in funds to hire armed security officers at its schools, the Republican-American reports. The town will also hire a new, part-time school resource officer too.
The armed security officers, who will be retired police officers, will be equipped with guns and bulletproof vests, the Rep-Am reports. Residents must approve the transfer of funds at a future town meeting.
It's possible the armed security officers could be in place by the end of the school year.
