The Seymour Culture &amp; Arts Commission presents, in concert, Southern Voice on August 8th at 6:00 p.m. at the Great Hill Hose Company, 140 Botsford, Seymour.  The concert will be held rain or shine.  The Hose Company will be selling hot dogs and hamburgers with all proceeds benefitting the Company.  Non-perishable food will be collected for the Food Bank.
Please come and join us for an evening of great music.

Seymour Public Library

Seymour Library is hosting Michael Langlois for a free evening book discussion on Wednesday August 12th at 6 pm. The doors will open at 5:30 pm for seating and light refreshments.The play to be discussed will be "The Tempest". The play written about 1610 is one of&nbsp; Shakespeare's most well known and loved tales and has been an inspiration for many works in literature, music, film and stage adaptions. The play can be seen as encompassing many motifs, themes and commentaries on colonialism, artistic creativity and feminism.Michael Langlois who will lead the discussion is a theatre artist, lecturer, performer and storyteller. He has directed productions throughout New England, served for twenty years as Artistic Director of Ashford Youth Theatre and more than a decade as Associate Artist with New London's Flock Theatre. Mr. Langlois has directed "The Tempest" as a stage production.Space is limited and registration is required but the book discussion is free. To enjoy and participate more fully the play should be read. Copies of the book are available for checkout at the Library's circulation desk with a valid library card. You do not have to be a resident of Seymour to register for this book discussion. Join us at the Seymour Library on August 19th for a mixed Trivia Night with Trivia Host David the local founder and creator of Sticker Book Publishing.
Doors open at 5:45 pm and the fun starts at 6:00pm. Bring your family, your friends or just come--teams and individuals are welcome. If you are coming as an individual and want to be matched with a team the Library can do that! Prizes will be awarded to the winning team or person.

Oxford Blooms Flower Farm

Join the Oxford Cultural Arts Commission for a special four-part plein air painting series at Oxford Blooms, where artists will gather throughout the summer to capture the changing landscape of this beautiful garden space. By returning to the same location over the course of the season, participants will have the opportunity to document how light, color, and plant life evolve from early summer into late season bloom.Artists are encouraged to bring their own supplies and work in any medium—painting, drawing, watercolor, pastel, or sketching. Whether you’re a seasoned plein air painter or simply curious about trying something new, artists of all levels are warmly welcome. Each session will run 5:30 PM until sunset, allowing participants to enjoy the golden evening light while creating alongside fellow artists in a relaxed, supportive environment. Bring your materials, find a view that inspires you, and watch the summer unfold one painting at a time.

Join the Oxford Cultural Arts Commission for Gather &amp; Groove, a welcoming community drum circle led by local facilitator Ken Parker.
Together we’ll explore rhythm as a way to connect, relax, and create something spontaneous as a community. Drum circles are open to everyone—whether you’ve been playing percussion for years or have never picked up a drum before. Ken will help guide the circle so that each participant can find their place in the rhythm as the groove builds and evolves.
Participants are encouraged to bring a drum, shaker, bucket, or any object that makes a joyful sound. A limited number of instruments will also be available to borrow, so newcomers are always welcome 
All ages and experience levels are invited to join. Come for a few minutes or stay for the whole circle as we gather, listen, and let the rhythm carry us.
