The Seymour Library welcomes the Eastern Connecticut Paranormal Society. The Society is a group of paranormal investigators who have come together to find the truth through in-depth investigative techniques -- NOT to sensationalize paranormal activity.
The Society tonight will present the method and steps through structures research and observation onsite to find the truly paranormal cases that show the mystery of the unknown. Past investigations and case studies will be shared providing an immersive look into the world of paranormal research. Local New England cases the Society has been involved in will be discussed. The talk will conclude with a Q&amp;A session to answer questions that are sure to come up.

The Friends of the Library in Oxford will hold a used book and bake sale on Tuesday, November 3, Wednesday, November 4 and Thursday, November 5 at the Oxford Library, 49 Great Oak Road in Oxford. Gently used nonfiction, fiction and children’s books will be available for purchase as will homemade baked goods. Tuesday’s hours are 10 AM-7 PM, Wednesday, 10 AM-4 PM, and Thursday, 10 AM-7 PM.
Persons wishing to donate books may do so on Saturday, October 10 from 10 AM-4 PM, and Saturday, October 24 from 10 AM-4 PM. Book drop off will take place in the parking lot, weather permitting, or in the lobby in case of rain. Donated books should be in nearly new or good condition with no tears, stains, highlighting or writing inside. Textbooks, scientific/technical manuals, encyclopedias, dictionaries, etc. are not accepted as they do not sell.
All proceeds from this annual event go to the Oxford Library to support programming and other needs.

Do you have obsolete devices or old internal drives that you’d like to safely dispose of? If so, take advantage of the convenience and security of having your sensitive household and business records and media destroyed by the pros. Please consider making our Paper Shredding and Electronics Recycling Fundraiser part of your fall cleaning! On Saturday, November 7 the United Methodist Church of Monroe will be hosting our Paper Shredding Fundraiser AND introducing Electronics Recycling. Now take advantage of a one-stop source for confidential, convenient document and data destruction with Affordable Solutions, LLC.
Stop by between 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at 435 Main Street, Monroe (corner of Route 25 and Route 59). We’ll be there rain or shine! Paper Shredding: $15* for a standard archive box (15”x12”x10”); price increases $5 according to container size.
* To ensure we can continue offering this valuable service, our shredding fee will be increasing.
Electronics Recycling: Cell phones, hard drives and tablets: $10/per Computers and laptops: $20/per
Payment: cash, check (made out to: UMC Monroe with “Paper Shredding” in the memo line) or credit/debit
The event will benefit missions near and far. Individuals and businesses are welcome. No need to exit your vehicle … just pull up, pop open your trunk and we’ll take care of the rest!
