Connecticut State Police Release Final Holiday Weekend Crime Statistics
Several thousand offenses were recorded over the three day Fourth of July holiday weekend.

The final Connecticut State Police have released their final holiday stats for the July 4th Holiday Operation in which they held numerous sobriety checkpoints all across Connecticut and added extra patrols in an effort to crackdown especially on drinking and driving offenses.
The holiday count began at midnight on July 3 and continued until midnight on July 5.

Troopers responded to 170 accidents, including 48 with injuries, and two fatals. They made 33 DUI arrests and gave out 859 speeding tickets and 2,461 other hazardous moving violation tickets.
By way of comparison from July 3 to July 6, 2014, there were 312 accidents, including 47 with injuries, but no fatal accidents were reported. Troopers made 42 DUI arrests and gave out 1,559 speeding tickets and 3,841 other hazardous moving violation tickets.
