Electronics Manufacturer Opens Oxford Plant

OXFORD, CT — An Indiana-based electronics manufacturer has opened an 8,000-square-foot production facility in Oxford, expanding its reach across the Northeast.

Microscreen’s new plant is located at 325 Riggs St. and manufactures precision stencils and other tools used to assemble circuit boards.

The company announced the opening Thursday, several months after leasing the industrial space.

Microscreen said the Oxford facility can produce stencils within 24 hours. Its location also puts customers between Maine and Philadelphia within range of one-day ground shipping.

The plant is led by East Coast Regional Manager Jeff Poulos.

“We’ve been looking at ways to better support our customers in the Northeast, and Oxford made perfect sense for us,” company director Nik Thomas said in the announcement.

The facility includes a laser system capable of cutting between 10,000 and 15,000 apertures per hour. Other equipment is used to inspect stencils, weld sections and measure the small openings used during circuit-board production.

The company did not disclose how many people work at the Oxford location or whether additional hiring is planned.

Microscreen is headquartered in South Bend, Indiana, and has manufactured screens and stencils for more than 45 years. The Oxford plant is the company’s East Coast regional facility.

Its Oxford location is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
