Fire Chief: Please Help Us Access Water Sources
Pelletier asks the public to help clear fire hydrants, suppression tanks.
Oxford Fire Chief Scott Pelletier is urging anyone who lives near a fire hydrants or underground suppression tank to shovel out around the areas so that firefighters will have no problems using them if there is an emergency.
Firefighters had to help with a fire in Southbury early Monday morning and had trouble filling up a water tanker truck at a fire hydrant near Christian Road because the hydrant was covered in snow.
"We had to shovel that one out," Pelletier said. "We do have people out there trying to shovel them out, but it's a lot to do. If people can help us out a little bit, that would be good and much appreciated."
